When WinnResidential called on Mostue & Associates to transform an un-used convenience store into a fitness center, the challenge was to create an eye catching and exciting, yet functional, space that adds to the amenities of the apartment complex. With a limited construction budget, the design uses simple, off-the shelf materials in creative new ways, including stained plywood panels with exposed fasteners, carpet as partial wall coverings, and recycled rubber flooring. The colorful materials and shapes employed at the entry and seating area create an energetic environment, while the simpler open floor plan provides maximum flexibility for the users and exercise equipment.
