Located at the site of a former MBTA trolley yard, the Trolley Square development features 32 affordable rental apartments and 8 affordable townhouses for first-time homeowners. Trolley Square also includes ground-level retail, underground parking, and community spaces. A rhythm of windows, entries, canopies, and bays along Massachusetts Avenue gives individual expression to the residences while creating a pleasant urban streetscape in this vibrant North Cambridge community. Trolley Square is a prime example of Smart Growth. The project is next-door to an MBTA bus terminus, a four-minute walk from the MBTA Red Line, and adjacent to the Linear Park Bike Path. Sustainability and energy efficiency were the foundations of this project.
